starting issue.
« on: 16 May 2015, 21:19 »
My 91 gti 8v has suddenly stopped working. The starter turns but the dash lights don't come on, there are no sensors firing and I'm worried it's either the ECU or the ECU relay. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

could be the electrical side of the ignition switch. is your fuel pump running?

Nope, I've tested the relays and they seem fine. Just no feed getting to the fuel pump or ecu relays.

I would check the earth lead from battery to inner wing. also check it for spark and let us know what you find.

OK, so i found the ignitian switch was at fault. Now the wipers and head lights don't work and if turn on the lights and flash the high beams the starter fires up. do we think this is the loom?

if I remember right the wipers/headlights and heater blower power up from the same position of the ignition switch.
