That's probably because you're not in the market for a white 3 door Golf GTI Asker!

And I hope I never will be.

A VW Golf (or any VW) is white goods. A white VW Golf is white-white white goods. No thanks.

Fancy a white BMW?  See a few white 1 Series at my work and they just don't look right to me. The colour seems to emphasise the panel gaps more than on a Golf and makes them look like an airfix/kit car.

I agree that, in general, white cars emphasise panel gaps more than other coloured ones. Black seems to hide this quite well.

And no, I don't fancy a 1 Series especially one in white. Do you? You seem to exhibit an unhealthy fascination for this particular marque.

White gtd's and gti's just look the best on the mk 7 shape. Why else would all the vw promotionals be using white and not red or black.

A tad biased perhaps?

Agree mk7 GTI does look great in white (not sure about it being the best colour though ).
I really wanted to like the GTI in black but for me it doesn't quite work with the red stripe through the headlights.  I do like the R in black though.  I think the grill/headlight stripe colour can either make or break the bodywork colour.

Nothing biased Rebecca I actually love the carbon grey but the contrast of the black trim on the white just looks the best. It's lost with black and dark colours and I hate red, it's just one of those things. I'm sure other cars have a one particular colour that suits them best.

I have a white three door gti and in my eyes I like the contrast with the black trim. All gets a lost a bit with the darker colours..... However that is my opinion and how I see it , others see things different .... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder .. To sum up we are all right and no one is wrong .

If the salesman had inferred I had made the wrong choice he would not get my business ... Drive the deal anyone 👍😄

Is there a way to get a realistic value from a dealer to sell to them?

What's the bidding bit about?

Have a 5 door CSG GTD I'm thinking of changing for something different.

Not sure where you're based, but perhaps give http://www.gtiworld.co.uk  or https://www.facebook.com/gtiworld?fref=ts a call in Edinburgh - they seem to shift a lot of GTI/GTD/R models, etc - still part of a big chain of dealers though
