« on: 13 May 2015, 23:08 »
Hi all,new to this forum but have spent a lot of time playing/building vdubs mk1 1.8t,lupo 1.8t but I'm now after something new!😁
Anybody ever considered a mk4 4.2 v8 Quattro transplant from an Audi A8?
Can it be done with out altering the look of the golf that much!

I think you'd be pressed for space - even the VR6, which was developed to fit in because a V6 wouldn't, fills the bay already fairly snug.

Do like the idea though.

Pressed for space you say?

Bonkers, and it's in a 3L shell

My last project was a lupo 20v turbo, that was easy enough but I struggled for engine bay space! Not a clue how they've done that! Wonder if it actually works?
There should be plenty of room for it in the golf bay as it would be going in longitudinally and I'm going to try and transplant all the drivetrain aswell in one, mount rack up high, make the front and rear subframes etc fit the golf or should I say golf fit the subframes.
Might have to go rear wheel drive only so I can keep the golf front end but time will tell!
Hopefully purchasing the A8 this weekend then moving into new house early July with my new double garage! Can't wait

Anybody got any tricks on aligning the subframes and tools to get the fit perfectly straight?
