The DSG software was updated and not fixed. One theory I just had from the independent VW specialist is it could be the Duel Mass Flywheel, symptoms sound right as feels like 'slack' between first and second gear pull away and down shift!

Booked in with them tomorrow to get their view!

Updating the software is not the same as resetting it. When you reset it you have to do multiple  sequences of driving, like 0-100mph, 70-0mph emerncy stop, cruise in one gear for 3 miles and loads more.

It reset's the link between DSG box and the ECU. And as far as ive been told, the DSG rest should be done after every software update anyways.

You seriously might want to try it before you buy any mechanical parts mate

Thanks mate, may just do that.

The independent VW specialist is 90% sure it's the duel mass flywheel!

I'll keep this thread updated in case anyone else gets a similar problem.

Hi mate, I was getting a new car but the plans fell through as bought a new house instead!!

Update on the gearbox

VW reset the DSG and carried out adaptive road test. Got the car back and the car is much better, they advise that 500 miles it will be perfect. Seems like it's all fixed! Lucky I didn't buy a new gearbox!!!

Thanks all,

Jim

Cool, if problems continue go back to an independent or auto gearbox specialist. When mine was replaced VW were somewhat vague about the full cause of the failure which of course made me suspicious...
