Car is a 1991 Mk2 8V GTi. It's in regular use, but it shares the daily transport with a couple of other cars and doesn't get started every day. There's an existing fault with the MFA/revcounter and dashboard lights not working.
Returning to the car after maybe a week without moving, there was very little battery. It wouldn't respond to my mains charger/booster, so I swapped the battery for another.
As soon as the new battery was connected, the coolant temperature/level light started flashing, even with the ignition switched off. The car started normally, this light kept flashing. I assume the light operating is what's run down the battery - does anyone have any pointers why it's doing this? Until now the coolant light has been one of those which didn't work at all. Coolant level is OK,
Cheers,
Bill.
