MPG and Temp display faulty
« on: 27 April 2015, 01:45 »
Hey guys,
Just bought my first mk4 and its near mint. Apart from the mpg display is dodgy. Start the cold and its perfect but over time, say 20-30 minutes, the display slowly dies and fades out meaning i can only read it by basically hanging my head out of the window. Why is this? Its genuinely pissing me off :P

Thanks,

Common problem, it is like a 10+ year old car and them displays weren't the best, they slowly fade over time. You can buy a new screen (pain to DIY) or send off your current tacho to have the screen replaced, usually replaced with a better quality screen.

Try owning a Audi TT mk1, our tacho's come in and out every month as they are the worst units out of the bunch of VAG cars.

Not just the TTs, the S3 and A3 suffer as well. Every one I've seen is missing at least three lines off the display...
