LED tail lights
« on: 23 April 2015, 21:11 »
I know this topic has been covered a few times, but I'm having a hard time finding the historic threads!

After owning the car for a year, I've finally found some time to start modifying it. The first preference is LED tail lights.

I came across these which seem like a good price, however they're set up for LHD. How easy is it to switch it to RHD? Is it just a simple matter of swapping the fog light and reverse light around and thats it?

Appreciate the help!

Yeah I've come across them too but they're not budging on price. The ones from Dectane are £100 cheaper including delivery

I would recommend going for these mate, or paying a little more and going genuine OEM. I have the bi-xenons with LEDs on the front of mine and they are flawless. Build quality is brilliant.

I have changed mine from LHD to RHD drive. It is a bit tricky and you do have to snap a bit out, just need a bit of patient and its all good.

I got my lights from these guys aswell, the light are great.

Big BUT!....becuase they are left hand drive lights, when using fog lamp - reverse light comes on
When reversing, your fog lamps come on.

Kinda hard to explain, you have to gently smash out the red reverse light surround, then fit a white bulb, its quite easy when you know how to do it.

maybe a video on youtube?

Oh really? So its just a matter of changing the bulb?

Dectane sent me a letter with pictures on changing two wires around on the electronic dashboard. i went to two electricians and they didnt want to take the risk. If its just a matter of changing a ligh bulb, ill take a look on the net.

Thanks for the idea mate!

If you just change the colour of the bulbs, surely that means you'll have a fog light on the near side and a reverse light on the offside?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
