If you want a really powerful wardrobe, why not have a look at:

http://www.evo.co.uk/audi/rs3

Have you seen the load capacity of an RS3? 280 litres, compared to 343 litres for a regular R hatchback.

Litres of boot space is all tosh.

My old neighbour works in R&D for Honda. He was showing me the Civic Tourer just before it was launched. Telling me how load luggers needn't be hearse shaped. He said the Civic have ever so many litres of boot space, but all that means is how many 100mm diameter balls could be packed in. It may be able to carry almost as many balls as my Passat, but it won't carry a washing machine with the rear seats still in place.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

It's a load of tosh depending on what you want to carry. I don't carry washing machines often, but when we go away for the weekend we'll normally take lots of soft bags etc. In those circumstances the number of litres does make a difference because you are generally filling the whole boot area. The size of the load floor is pretty irrelevant.

All I know is that whatever shape the boot is, whatever that thing you want to carry won't bloody fit.

Sloping rear window, suspension intrusion, large boot lip, seats not folding completely flat, rear interior light fitting getting in the way..... or whatever!

If you want to carry stuff, go the whole hog and buy a transit van :D
