  I hope not Asker as Ive always been a massive GTD fan, I much preferred the GTD mk6 to the GTI and as far as mk7's go it's neck and neck for me.
Mind you I can be unkind about most things on my day!

I love the torque with Diesels and that you don't have to visit a filling station too often. Just the Diesel clatter at idle  is a bit annoying though Porsche Diesels are pretty quiet in this respect. My BMW was not too bad either.

With stop start you don't get any Diesel clatter

I just passed two R's and both drivers blanked me  miserable lot.
Oh and so did the GTI driver going past too
I'd expect it from GTD company car drivers  :lipsrsealed:

I bet scirocco owners don't ignore each other....

Anyway, the R Estate is certainly not stylish. In fact, its proportions are decidedly out of kilt. If one wants a decent looking estate and not a half-way-house like the Golf estate, then why not go the whole hog and get one from BMW, Mercedes or Audi, who do it so much better.

You'll pay a hefty premium for those other marques for a start and I'm pretty certain they don't do an xdrive estate yet do they? Looks are subjective and I think the estate versions of the vag family (not Audi) look good proportion wise. At least it's not like the Honda accord hearse which looked absolutely terrible!

Looks good in the pictures, but not sure if I'd like it in the flesh or not (nice seats and interior though)  :undecided:

I've always loved the front and rear of the modern Scirocco but think it goes a bit awry when it comes to the sides, something about the design doesn't gel and flow with the rest of the car.  No good for me as need 5 doors.

All Diesel BMW 3 Series hearses come with 4WD. Petrol ones don't.

Is it the 5 series that doesn't? A friend has just bought a new bmw estate and he said he couldn't get it with xdrive.

Anyway, the R Estate is certainly not stylish.

Nor is the R hatch. The MK7 is a handsome looking car at best (in GTI/GTD guise), but I think it's far from what you'd call good looking or stylish. I certainly don't think the masses are fawning over them like some people here might like to believe. Don't get me wrong, I'm a massive Golf fan and am now on to my seventh, but I have (so far) bought them on the main selling point of any hatchback, and that's practicality.

There are more stylish cars about, no doubt, but I think the Mk7 is handsome in hatch guise (not as much as the Mk6 though ). Let's face it, there are some horror examples of mish-mash styling out there, Vauxhall amongst others.  I like the evolutionary changes from one mark of Golf to another, and they still look good long after some of the more 'styled' hatches have dated.

I do think the proportions of R Estate look odd though, much in the same way in the cabrio GTI/R looks wrong, i.e, not designed as such from scratch.

I think they would have been better making a Passat .:R Estate.

For those that remember the B6 Passat R36, it was a cracking car. It was also the correct size for an estate car.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
