Problems starting mk3 1996
« on: 17 April 2015, 15:40 »
Hi guys

first time on here. Ive had starting problems with the car from 3 attempts to 20mins but once started everything seems to be running and sounding normal. Ive changed the spark plugs, ht leads, air filter, dizzy cap and rotor arm. No change. Decided to check/clean breather hoses and found 2 holes about the size of a 5p piece in each of the hoses from the engine head. One leads to throttle housing and the other to the air filter carried out a temp repair using tape and hoped that this was the problem. Still not starting properly and when i did get it started smelled very strongly of petrol. Have i now caused another problem with the probability of getting dirt, grit etc into the throttle housing or engine??? Any suggestions where i should go from here?

thanks
