Does a custom badge interest you?
« on: 15 April 2015, 15:36 »
So I'm in the process of designing a anniversary badge.

The company I want to use is trimsport.bigcartel.com as they already have mk3 style badges.

I have been speaking to them and they would only make them if there was a demand for them so trying to get a few people together so I can show him it's worth while.

Failing that I'll just use
isaydingdong.co.uk

Still great badges just won't look as OEM as I'd like, also they won't come in red which is a shame because I want it to match the red badges the anniversary already has

I would have thought that most anni owners would want to keep their car totally origina/standard so adding a non standard badge would'nt be quite right.

It's an interesting thought and I certainly wouldn't want to shoot you down over the idea.  Those 'in the know' would recognise an Anniversary providing it hasn't been mucked about with as regards to the vehicles identity.  Yes, some have different wheels, different exhausts, suspension that is too low etc, etc and i'd think it may appeal to the owners of those vehicles.

Do bear in mind that original cars are increasingly being broken up and I think the demand for the badge would be quite low.  Me personally, I wouldn't want one because I like to try and keep it original looking and secondly my car is red!  Identifying the red badges is hard enough as it is!

However, perhaps a window sticker might show more demand?  But there will still be a limited market.

Thanks for your comments.

I know what you mean about the cars being broken up and there being a low demand.

I just really wanted that company to make it because they have some really good ones already.

I think I'll end up using the other company (isaydingdong) Their badges come in black and silver so it would look good against the red paint and not so good against my silver paint. I want to make the badge quite small and have it in front of the gear gator on the lower console.

I like my car to be original too with some very subtle modifications.

A window sticker is another option and it was another idea of mine. Cheaper to make, and probably more demand for it.

If I get the stickers made would you buy one in silver?

If you made a "20 Jahre" badge, you would increase the pontinental buyers. But since you are so determind it should be in english

I think a 20vt badge in the style of the mk3 would sell.
