I know we all own Golf Gti's but who makes the best cars??

based on pure desirabilty - it has to be an Italian, - Ferrari, lamborghini, Masarati.
But for engineering then - it has to be German, or even Some british marques - Jag, Rolls.
And before any one mentions that they are all owned by other nationalities/companies - We are going back to their roots!
It's a tough one this!

Subjective? isn't that the idea of a poll?
wouldn't be much point in having them if we all had the same opinion!
And the roots refered to the companies origins not who holds the purse strings now!

I voted UK, Aston Martin, Jaguar, RR, Bentley, TVR.
The dogs boll*cks if you can afford them.

Regardless that I drive French and my wife German how can you ignore the UK sports cars (Lotus, Caterham, TVR, etc.).  I think UK first with Italian a close second (although theirs are generally too expensive or very badly built).

Ultra reliable.
Well priced....

Ive got an F Reg Honda Intergra, its done 270,000 miles and still out accelerates my Golf and its only a 1.6!!!

and the nice fact they're even RHD for import.. I nearly got an FTO, but opted for a mk3 16v in the end
