Transferring vehicle tax
« on: 02 April 2015, 06:56 »
Morning All,

Hopefully getting a new motor on Saturday and been online about transferring the tax over to the new motor but cannot find anything.

Do I cancel the current tax online then start a new one up for the new motor??

Sorry for the dumbass question that's more than likely going to be pretty obvious

Yep. Can't transfer as far as I am aware, as the cars might be different tax bands
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

When you sent the log book in to notify the DVLA of the new keeper, they will refund you the remaining tax from your current car. You will need to tax the new car yourself tomorrow.

Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I like the new system, a lot of people still don't, and I can see why, but it still works the same, aside from the bargaining tool of selling a car with tax.

The direct debit side of things is working wonders for me, running the Donor gti for a while before I take the engine out. Can easily be cancelled when I scrap the body

TBH it was pretty painless doing this. Just gets you motivated to get the log book sent off so you can get your refund
