New car questions
« on: 01 April 2015, 19:53 »
Picked up my gti this morning. Couple of questions.

1. The airbag stickers on the passenger sun visor, can they come off, they seem to be like painted or something (ie no visible edge to it so can't unpeel)

2. Are the lights supposed to turn on when you unlock the car?

I flipping love it, (I know photo evidence or it isnt real or whatever but I haven't got the foggiest on how to upload one!)

Thanks in advance

The airbag sticker has had a few comments.

And a How To on removing it. Its for a Mk6 but the principle I would imagine would be the same

As for your lights. Have you got the light switch on "Auto" as it will only work on that setting and also only work if it is dark enough. So it won't do it in the daylight.

Yep just tried now it's a bit darker and they have come on! Thanks for your help on that. Shame about the sticker I think I'll leave it and get used to it.

Thanks

Congrats on your new car

To post pics you'll need a photo hosting account such as photobucket or flickr.  To post from photobucket - copy and paste IMG code of your chosen photo,  or if using Flickr - copy and paste BBC code.  There's also a help guide at top of new forum members section.

To be honest, after a few days you don't even notice the sticker (at least I don't anymore), so personally I'd just leave well alone.

P.s. And sorry, totally off topic I know, but bloody hell Rebecca, just been looking at your Flickr site and photos of your mk6. I seriously didn't think it was possible to ever get a car looking that shiney without chrome plating it - it's a credit to you.

Ta Sootchucker

You might not be quite so complimentary if you could see it at moment, sludge plated would be a more accurate description  :embarrassed:  Gone 3 weeks without a wash, which is an age to me.

Shhh!  Chrome plate is my detailing secret....'80s mirrored Ray-Ban Aviators - that's the look I'm going for

Sorry charv, back to your lovely birthday present   we want pics!

I was adamant that i wanted rid of that airbag sticker but you soon stop noticing it tbh, my solution was going to be to get a drivers sun visor from a left and drive car but never bothered in the end. :)
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

Same here, was adamant I was going to get the LHD visor etc, and after a few days....As a driver I never even look there.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

A suitable cut section of matt black vinyl from the local sign shop applied over it would do the trick.....

Happy Birthday Charv (belated I guess) and congrats on picking the car up.

PHOTOS!

Ahh, I remember my 21st well. I was midway though buying my first property (a flat as property prices were mental back then too) and had chicken pox I'd picked up off my little sis just before my parents and her vanished off to Tererife on holiday leaving me home alone for my birthday laid up in bed
Celebrations duly cancelled and I was left with nothing but a massive birthday cake my girlfriend had bought me for company for two weeks whilst I sat in quarantine. Happy days.

PS. You soon get used to that annoying label and don't look at it.
