Warning sign advice please.
« on: 28 March 2015, 09:44 »
Please,if anybody knows what this warning sign that twice has flashed up for a couple of seconds with an audible beep.I wasn't driving/in the car so I can only give this second hand description.
Its a red car symbol with curved lines pointing outwards each corner.
We have looked in the manual but can't find it?

It sounds like the radar emergency brake warning, something like this?

It pops up with a loud beep if the car believes you need to brake pronto. If you don't brake and the circumstances don't change, it will then brake for you.

As FFrank says.

Had it a few times normally when I get close to the car in front which has slowed to turn left and I have left braking late. The sensor recognises that no brakes have been applied, thinks your going to hit the car in front and looks to step in and brake for you . Feels like the car is telling you off as it flashes red  ! wow slow down Lewis

Ha ha, yeh had it a couple of times myself. Both times I was already anticipating the situation, but it's a reassurance that I have a co-pilot if it's ever needed.

Its by no means perfect, it definitely does have a false positive rate quite a bit above zero.

Happens to me sometimes. When the car ahead slows to turn, I tickle the brake pedal to let the car know that i'm aware of the situation developing, usually prevents the audible warning and the car banging on the brakes.
