Brake Discs - Which Ones?
« on: 24 March 2015, 17:15 »
Anyone fancy quickly helping out, Iv'e tried looking through the forum and searching on google but cant find a definitive answer.

On Eurocarparts they have 3 different discs to fit the car ranging from £37 - £61, slightly fatter ones looking t the diameters but which ones do I need for the GTI?

Thanks in advance

I'm assuming you're after front discs? Measurement should be 312mm x 25mm I believe

Incidentally GSF car parts have 25% off all service items at the min with code 'gsf25'. I used them when I bought discs for my car, pair of Brembo discs for £99.36 down from £132.48. Wanted the Brembo ones which I don't think ECP do?

ha yeah fronts didn't actually say!

Excellent that confirms it then, I assume the more expensive ones must be for the R.

Thanks for the heads up with GSF but the Brembo ones are a little more expensive then Bosch even with the discount and don't really fancy putting there vtech ones on.

I've had Brembo's on the front of mine for nearly 2 years now, still look and work ok after 20,000 miles.

How many miles are people changing their discs at?

I am on 58K miles at the moment, still on the original pads and discs.
The discs do have a slight ridge on them.

Got the Bosch from Euro 312mm had an extra 5% discount so pads and discs fro the front cost £150 delivered. Just called a local garage who will do the work for £45 so saves me messing about on Sunday. Think £45 isn't a bad deal at all.

Think mine have been on since the car was bought, if so they have 65,000 on them ...

Definitely time for a change then!
