Getting a test drive ain't easy !

I have tried to get a test drive in a GTi fixed up for weeks now.  Local dealer had a car at another branch not too far away but it was sold in days.   I then found out that dealer 30 miles or so away (in Ayr for any locals looking in) had one so had arranged a drive for this Saturday (28th) as wife and I were due to be in Ayr anyway for appointments.   Turns out wife now has to be back in Glasgow sharpish so we won't have time for a drive....!! 

I guess the popularity of the car means any stock goes quickly but if they are taking in demos they don't seem to be demo'ing them for long ! I thought 3 months was standard before looking to sell demos.

If anyone knows of a demo (preferably with PP pack) available soon anywhere within striking distance of Glasgow, please post !

Have you tried the dealership on Crow Road and the one in Linwood?

Just doing a quick search and I can see that VW in Rutherglen have a used one in stock. You could try them

Thanks Craig.  The sales guy at Kilmarnock Rd (my local) was (!) "keeping an eye on the system" and he flagged up the Linwood one, which went quickly.  In theory he should let me know if Crow Rd get one but I think I'll call them direct and ask.  i know the service manager there.  Funnily enough my son just got home from a trip to Crow Rd to get something fixed on his VW Fox......completely forgot he was going or would have got him to ask/have a nosey round for me !!

Is Inch Stirling any good? Bought current GTD DSG from Western VW Edinburgh but underwhelmed by how they messed my order up. Also would only give me a 10 minute accompanied test drive in a GTi, no GTD to test drive (despite promises) and a 30 minute unaccompanied test drive in a diesel GT with DSG.

They told me that it was "illegal" to let me have an unaccompanied test drive (and then let me have one a couple of weeks later).

Been excellent with me Matt. I have been dealing with Bobby & the Sales Manager. I got a 24 test drive of the managers car (didn't even spend a penny on diesel)all i had to do was go in with my driving licence.

They had no other GTD's at the time (4 weeks ago) thats why i got the managers car. Give them a call and see what they can do.

I called Western to get a lease quote and the salesman couldn't get anywhere near the price i was getting from Stirling, said it should be the same price everywhere as it goes through VW finance but amazingly Specialist Cars in Dunfermline could match it.

Test drive sorted with Arnold Clark Crow Rd through service manager. They will have both a GTi and R available this weekend.

Don't any of you buggers go and buy either of them before I get there !!
