Gutted doesn't even come close!

Just got back from 2 weeks away and first time we take the 16v GTI out it broke down!!  :cry:

apparently the clutch has gone and it managed to send bits up into the engine/gearbox and jam it up (sorry i'm not the most technical person here! :undecided:)

absolutely gutted watching it go away on the recovery truck!

has anyone else had this happen??

only thing keeping us going is that i've recently got a 8v GTI too!! which is loads fun! :wink:

seriously doubt that would happen by just leaving it then taking it out for a drive.

Might want to investigate that more.

Are you sure it's the clutch and not the diff that's bu66ered as that's more likely/common ( happeed to mine 2 weeks ago ,cost me £ 550 to get it rebuilt  )

Yep same here, just went after a blast down a dual carrigeway.  £600 here too. Oh & I had a new clutch too.
