Considering a mk7
« on: 14 March 2015, 20:21 »
Hi
I'm considering moving to Mk7 GTI and have been offered a good part ex price for my Mk6.
The only thing is, it's an ex demonstrator. It's a 14 plate with 10000 miles on it.

Thanks
Chris

I would try and find a cancelled order personally. Then you know how it was treated.

As above. Average mileage for a year old, but if it's been ragged for most of those 10k?? I'd steer well clear (excuse the pun).

Does it have PP?

No PP.

As a guide, a brand new one of that spec on Drivethedeal comes in at £2.5k more (financed) or £3.2k more (cash) than your price, that's with a 14% discount off list price.  Course it depends what 'good' px price you've been offered and your cost to change.  I personally wouldn't take an ex demo on a car of this type.

I can't help you with your Mk7 dilemma... but I'm looking to buy a Mk6 and yours looks like it's exactly what I'm after. And I'm sure i'd be willing to pay more than any px price you've been given

It really depends on price and whether you place any value in getting the car immediately rather than a 3-6 month wait for a factory order.

As a rule of thumb for a demo with sub-3000 miles I'd expect to pay no more than the cost of a new one discounted through a broker, ideally cheaper still.
