which suspension kit you going for?, im looking at one for mine and dont want it too low, just abit. When the suspension is out change the top mounts, they only cost a few quid.

I put a set of apex-35mm on mine along with new boge shocks all round and its pretty decent. its firm enough to notice a difference but not choppy enough to regret it

Beauty with plate holders is you can keep a set of UK legal ones in the boot under the carpet, if you get pulled just pretend you've been to a meet and "forgot" to swap the plates back, then just do it there and then so the 5-0 are happy. Job done!

that's what ive done lol

so ive been doing a bit more today..

took door cards off and saw fresh unpainted metal  so I sprayed that to within an inch of its life with hammerite!

found a rainbow interior and got the seats in today. was a bargain!

and I tried the new slimmer side trim on today (was a freebie in the scrapyard   )

also been trying to get to the bottom of the starting problem. when its started and you drive about in it its fine but when its left for 4hrs+ it doesn't wana start. battery is good, alternator is good, it seems im losing 5v when its turning to the starter motor, 14v when car off and 9v at starter when cranking... not sure if that's right. perhaps its not turning fast enough to start the car?

Try the old trick of depressing the clutch when starting, as this takes load off the starter motor. If it then starts OK, probably safe to say the starter motor is giving up the ghost.

Alternatively, I know mk2's can suffer from fuelling issues when warm, my old 8v GTI certainly did. I know it's unlikely in this situation but worth mentioning I suppose.
