I was hoping someone could briefly explain how often the GTIs need servicing? Is it every 12 months or 10k miles. Or do they use a longlife variable system i.e. everyday 24months or 18k miles. Do the services alternate between minor (oil change) and major? When are the big services that need spark plugs, dsg oil etc

Thanks for all your help peeps

Re servicing, it depends on your mileage and type of trips but more often than not it's time and distance service schedule so initially 12 months or 10k miles whichever is the sooner and then every 12 months or 10k thereafter.

Check out VW servicing page http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/servicing/regimes

If I recall the DSG oil service is at 40k miles.  2nd service is an oil change one.  If you want to see what else is checked at 2 years or 20k miles, click on my flickr link under my sig or on my sig pic and several pics down there's a couple of pics of the 2 year service sheet.  It's a handy way of keeping the record safe
