Low Boost Pressure
« on: 09 March 2015, 13:27 »
had an engine warning light and had it checked out an that's what came up (low boost)

Mate with code reader said it might be the variable turbo vanes sticking???

Has suggested a terraclean.

Ideas? Advice please

Terraclean will help the engine out due to the amount of oil that gets burnt onto the valves but whether it'll sort boost issues is another matter. Certainly cheaper than pulling the inlet off and investigating.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Yea what I was thinking! carbon deposits etc are inlet, but as the turbo is exhaust driven I assume they are there as well!

Could it be something more like the N75 valve?

i'd take anything your mate with a code reader says with a pinch of salt if he thinks your petrol turbo has variable vanes. on a 200ps GTI the diverter valve is bolted to the turbo compressor housing with 3 5mm allen head bolts, very common for failing.
