Go for the GTI, I was in the same position about 5 or 6 weeks ago and went for the GTI, like mentioned previously 'if' you drive it sensibly you get reasonable mpg, foot down and it's great fun  :laugh: :laugh:

ive owned it a few weeks now and im getting 40mpg on a run and 30 ish on my comute. I can live with that.
