So, with a keyless manual GTI.

Get in car, no seatbelt

start the car by pressing the keyless start button - engine starts, red brake light.

With the car in neutral and not touching any pedals at all, inserting the seatbelt buckle, light goes from red to off, not green?

Is that correct?

Just trying to document it in a way people can test it as well :)

I've just been out to the car park here and tested my manual, GTD with no keyless.

The only other thing I noticed that I'd forgotten is that the seatbelt light goes out.

However, mine definitely keeps the park brake on until I attempt to move off its RED.

Might it be a keyless thing? Can other keyless manual owners try it?

yes that is correct.

Its not the be all and end all, I will learn to put my seatbelt on with my foot on the brake, but I certainly dont want this eagerness evolving further, what if soon it decides waiting for the seatbelt is taking too long...

It was frosty this morning, so i turned my car on and put the heaters on full while i went to find the deicer, imagine my surprise when I came back to find my car was already halfway down the M6... for example

Could be worse, you could have DSG, an active route on the nav and find yourself in Milton Keynes before you know it.

Nobody wants to go to Milton Keynes! ;-)

that is true, it can only use gravity against me for now, before it learns where it clutch is of course. So if I move somewhere flat, maybe East Anglia, I should be ok for the time being

Keyless works exactly the same.  The handbrake light only goes off when you try driving away after putting on your seatbelt.  If you try driving away without the seatbelt on then theres just alot of noise and your car doesnt move and you feel stupid (from experience  :embarrassed:)

Ok well I finally by chance got to show this fault to a VW technician when it was in for other work. They had it in yesterday to reset the software or something, anyway turns out its not worked, in fact its done it to me every time ive started the car lol but that's only been twice, we shall see tonight.

In other news, they also replaced my boot lip spoiler things just cos the sticky tape was coming loose, so at least i have got rid of the swirl marks technically

Does it make a difference how you put the brake on at the end of the previous drive? If you just turn off the car and it auto engages the brake perhaps it's mimicking that on the other side when you start up.

If you don't deliberately put the brake on then try doing that.
Australian spec MY14 GTI | Pure White | Manual | Bi-Xenons as an option (vs UK: minus LED tails, plus DCC, plus RVC, plus Discover Nav).

Thats not a bad idea for my next step of testing, I just wish I could find the pattern to it so I could show people on command if you know what I mean. I will try and remember how I stop next times....
