Bluefin on GTD - Superchips
« on: 19 February 2015, 15:43 »
Has anyone got the Superchips Bluefin on the Mk7 GTD ?

It seems it can be done now without opening the ECU like lots of new cars have to, not sure how long this has been the case.  I know there are other alternatives/tuning box's etc.  Just curious if anyone has gone for the Bluefin yet ?

I'd think this would be a good option as it flashes your factory map back every time you swap maps over.
Quite aside from warranty work if you even need diagnostics run on the car it's better to have a 100% factory map to work from.
I think Bluefin warrant the drivetrain for 12 months or so if you have factory warranty too but I'd hate to be caught in the middle of VW waving the TD1 and Superchips underwriters saying it's not their software at fault...

What are the gains like in comparison to DTUK's CRD-T box? Both seem relatively straight forward to remove to avoid any warranty issues...

Bluefin is actually flashing the ecu so will flag up as td1 where the dtuk box leaves no trace (well not exactly nothing but if you've got vcds you'll be fine).

Bluefin should put your full original factory map back on so in theory be TD1 proof

Only if it resets the flash counter

Equally nothing is totally TD1 proof and if the GTI tread is anything to go by in the main MK7 section then its not as big an issue as some people are making it out to be

From what I've read the mk7 ECU doesn't have a flash counter.

Have a look at this thread as it's interesting reading:

MK7 does have a flash counter  :nerd:

And I haven't heard of any one having TD1 issues with a remap
