fans wont work

Hi,
     I have a mk1 jetta with an abf in it and the fans have stopped working but so has my temperature gauge on my clocks could this be because of my temperature sensor on my engine doing both or are my clocks knackered and something else is doing it

hi mate
first check fans turn ok by hand, then look at the fan sensor that screws into radiator, change it if it been in there a while, that senses water temp in rad and sends power to the fans when water is too hot, also check wiring to fan
