Interior switches
« on: 14 February 2015, 21:09 »
Hello all. I've got an issue with the switches in my car. The lights inside the switches are not lit. Main ones effected are the front passenger side and drives side window switches, the dash rear window switches, the sunroof switch, electro side mirrors, and the headlight switch. I've checked the fuse that's fine. Does anyone know what the cause of this could be?

Do you get voltage to the switches?

Do lights in the dash come on when you turn the parking or driving lights on?

Yes they do. The switches have been checked and they do turn on. The rear window switches light up however

Not sure what to make of your answer. Yes they do what?
When you say they turn on, does that mean the windows go up and down or the lights come on when you power manually? Measure the voltage on the wire that is for the illumination when lights are on.

I meant that the switches work for their purpose, the windows go up and down, the sunroof operates and so forth. I will check the wires for the illumination could there be a ground issue?

OK, switches actual function and the lights are completely different circuits.

Does the illumination in the speedo work?

Doubt it's ground issue, they are not all same GND. It's gonna be the illumination wiring or possibly light switch (hence question if the speedo lights up).

Did some digging and dropped the fuse box to look at the rear connections to see if the illumination connections were disconnected. I found that there was a blue wire that was loose I reconnected it and viola the switches were illuminated however the sunroof one still doesn't work.

So hopefully the pic shows where my finger is the cable that was reconnected for the switches to illuminate
