This Happened to anyone's Monzas?
« on: 14 February 2015, 17:15 »
Hi All,

Over the past few month this has appeared and "grown"  is this the white worm that I have heard about? looks dirty but its a white color which wont come out! there is no scuffs/scratches and this is on the surface. They havent been damaged etc..
Car goes in for pre warranty - end  check next week so will be demanding a new alloy or some job on it!  Anyone had this problem before?  pics below.  :undecided: :undecided:

Looks like it too me. Have you had new tyres at any point?

Yes, looks like whiteworm. Had it on 2 of my diamond cut Charleston alloys around the centre caps. Dealer took photos of them - presumably to get warranty claim authorised, and both were replaced under warranty without any challenges from VW or the dealer.

I am pretty sure VW won't replace it.I am sure that they only replace wheels with whiteworm in the first 12 months since new.It is sometimes possible to get a goodwill gesture off them but I doubt it for a 2011 car.If the wheel has had a new tyre not fitted by a VW dealer you've even less chance.

VW replaced my whiteworm wheels under warranty when the car was 2 years 9 months old. However, they won't replace them if they've suffered any other damage such as kerbing, and I don't think will they replace them if the car is out of factory warranty.

They do swap them sometimes as a goodwill gesture but strictly speaking its not covered by a VW warranty.

This is just an extract that lists what's not covered, wheels are on this list.

New tyres when i got the car but dealer put them on! 12 month ago  :undecided:  Very dissapointed about this. thought it was but kept saying to myself it might not be    so does this only grow and get worse from this point on (if left)  going straight to the dealer tomorrow morning see what they say.

I had one replaced just before the 3 year warranty ran out, no questions asked, so hopefully you will have no problems.
