I have just replaced the lift pump and fuel filter on our 16v mk2 GTI - hoped it might cure the horrendous buzzing sound coming from the fuel pump. It didn't
However, having read the Haynes manual, and checking online images - it looks as though the pulsation unit at the fuel line/fuel pump connection is missing. I will need to check again, but I think it has been replaced with a bolt.
How essential is the pulsation unit ? The only replacement I can find is on ebay and it is quite expensive.
