Clutch
« on: 08 February 2015, 18:10 »
Hi all . I have a year 2000 18t GTI . Posted some pics of it somewhere on here . Only got it late last year , one owner from new and 42k miles , 43k now ( all standard ). I noticed when i test drove it , some times the revs will seem to rise above the speed slightly when accelerating hard , like the symptoms of clutch slip , but it doesn't actually slip , just a momentary rise in revs before the speed catches it up . Seems to happen when it's making allot of torque , starting to spool up i guess . You can't actually provoke the clutch into slipping and it pulls really well , you wouldn't even notice anything driving it normally . I'm wondering if it's something developing , or just the dual mass flywheel doing it's thing ? Such things as DMF's are new to me .

Sounds very much like clutch to me, especially how you describe the revs raising up when you put your foot down
