Few issues with my GTi. Advice needed.
« on: 04 February 2015, 22:32 »
Just a few issues with my 1.8t AGU I wanted some input with before I chuck money at it.

First one.... When inside the car whilst idling. There is a slight high pitch whistle. It's not constant so I was thinking belt related. But I can't hear it under the bonnet. Only inside the car.

And also. When pulling out of a junction on full lock. There's like a whining/whirring noise at slow speed. It goes away when I pick up speed or straighten up. I'm thinking PAS related.

And lastly. It's drinking coolant. I can't see any visible leaks. And no general head gasket symptoms. No smoke and no milky gunk in the oil. Any ideas?

Cheers in advance guys

Mine does that too wining noise on low speeds but the coolant may be due to a hairline cracking or the seal has gone In the coolant flange on the right hand side of engine I guarantee it the rubber seal in there  mime went a few months ago

Would you see any visible leaks? I have recently changed the thermostat but that's all fitted properly and not leaking
