Oh this perennial nugget of colour choice. I will comment on the available colours for the Golf R.

Generally the colours on offer are pants and bore the pants off me. I basically don't like any of them, and because of this I decided on Tornado Red which costs me nothing. VW could take a leaf out of BMW's book where a few metallic colours are no cost options especially for their halo models.

There is a huge range of colours available for German buyers, so why are some of these not available in the UK? It is an annoying lapse by VW to short change us in this way.

Golf R: Great car, bloody awful colour choice.

I sort of agree, but it is very common these days, regardless of the manufacturer. When I was considering an M135i I think it was only available in 6 colours. Would be nice if they had an extended palette of colours like the BMW Individual or Audi Exclusive, and it's quite annoying that if you buy in Germany you can have a huge number of colours.

It makes no sense on the colour front - you want to standardise your production line as much as possible, not have specials for any particular market.

I dunno, it would be nice to have a choice really.... all the cars on the UK roads are fifty shades of grey/silver/black.... some colour would be nice.

Worth mentioning that those colours are non-standard colours and come at a hefty premium (1740-2170 Euros). If you think VW are taking the piss charging £540 for the routine metallic paint options, you'll not want to shell out for the others.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

All gone.

"Audi exclusive" colours are 2025 quid... I guess thats the same thing - only they have far more colours to choose from, most of which are just more shades of grey lol

The VW dealer in Aberdeen has what appears to be a full UK spec Mk6 GTI in yellow (an otherwise unobtainable colour) so there must be some way to sway VW UK to have been ordered in the first place...

Dark violet pearl would be nice to see in real life as would a VW equivalent to Audi Panther Black Crystal
