I don't regret choosing red although the paint is very soft and scratch prone compared to the bullet proof Reflex Silver paintwork I had before. If I had to choose again I would still go with Tornado Red for the GTI, it matches brilliantly with the interior red stitching and the cloth tartan seats too.

I'm going to be the minority here, while I really liked carbon grey on the mk6 I'm not liking it has much on the mk7. It looks like faded black to me esespecially after looking at black. I don't know what it is maybe the mk7 is bigger or the fact the red stripe or the red badges on the side or front and rear for Pp models make the grey less darker and the black even deeper.
GTI manual PP, now sold  :-(

See this is what happens when you ask a bunch of GTI enthusiasts

Go with your gut instinct.  What do you see yourself driving every day, week in week out?  What would you like to see outside your window, every day.  Perhaps more importantly, how much time will you have to spend keeping it looking in top condition (if that's important to you) or do you want a colour that will hide the dirt for longer??

Booth11.....I have just been on the phone to Vw Customer care to see what stage my car is at, they came back and said they are still have a unconfirmed build week but its come forward from week 11 to week 10.....
So I asked if i was too late to change the colour, she came back and said its letting her change it on the computer, but there is a slim change it might knock it back a week or two. but if i want to change do it ASAP.

I can see my self in Carbon Grey, the wife said the other day she seen a TR Gti but had to drive real close to make it out as she could'nt see the red gti badge on the rear...she also said it looked very plain until you were up close!!!

So to me that kinda settles my mind, So i called my dealer this morning but he was on a call and said he would call back, but still waiting!!!

The update will follow

Just been told if I change to Carbon Grey it will push the order out of March into April possibly into May  Do I want to wait that long? Or do I stick with TR and get it mid March next month :undecided:

The saga continues

You must be on the cusp of a confirmed build week if leaving it alone will see you get it in mid March. Better make your mind up quick. I have a TR GTD and as much as I like it, i'd say the CSG looks better after seeing a CSG GTD the other day. Also CSG, being GTD/GTI exclusive will be rarer. Lots of standard Golfs in TR, lots of "lease spec" Rs in TR coming through too.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I also chose TR and absolutely love it. No doubt it is my favourite GTI colour.

Looks deep red in the shade and then almost orange in the sun.

I am a hobby detailer so I do keep on top of it, and although the paint is soft, it looks mega when freshly polished/coated in a good quality wax/sealant.

I'd defo choose it again.
