Tyres!
« on: 30 January 2015, 19:22 »
This might seen an odd question, but I'm in need of some help..

My Golf Cabrio has. 245/50/16 on the fronts and rears...now the rears are pretty much shot, can I put 235/60/16s as replacements? Only reason I ask, is a friend of mine has 2 brand new ones in his shed, and wants rid.

No.  It'll be all over the place as the rear will have a larger rolling radius.  You can get away with about up to 5%, but that'll give you 16.66% difference.

Not advisable.  Again, due to the difference in rolling radius from standard size, it'll throw your speedo out quite a lot.

How will different size rear tyres effect the speedo? Still not advisable, but not for that reason.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

have you got those sizes right? 245/50/16 is a huge tyre for a 3.5 cab
