Old member, new car.
« on: 30 January 2015, 12:15 »
Hello!

Haven't been on here for a long time although I recognise a few members that have switched from the MK6 section to the MK7 section.

I currently have a Stage2+ Golf R and have just ordered a Golf GTD, been told 6-8 weeks for a factory order?? although it seems a bit optimistic to me TBH.

Will be keeping the R and mile munching on the GTD, never driven the MK7 before so I hope I wont be disappointed and hopefully i'll be posting some pics up in 6-8 weeks time and lurking in the meantime!!

Ahh, Mr H, welcome back!
Will it be a name change to Daily-Plus-Sunday-Driver?

Good shout anyway, the GTD is a cracking car, super torquey and easy to live with plus plenty in reserve for when it gets to feel a bit slow

A short lead time but then again I guess there are plenty in the system, so long as you don't want any 'difficult' options.
So, talking of which - what options has sir gone for?
‘25 8.5R, ‘23 8R, ‘20 8CS, ‘19 135iX, ‘19 TCR, ‘17 Ed40, ‘17 GTD, ‘15 7R, ‘13 GTI PP, ‘11 GTI, ‘09 GTI, ‘98 Ibiza Cupra, ‘05 GTI, ‘06 Polo GTI, ‘04 GT TDI, ‘05 Fabia vRS, ‘02 GTI T, ‘03 Ibiza TDI 130, ‘01 Leon 180, ‘89 mk2 16v, ‘99 Ibiza TDI, ‘96 VR6, ‘98 Ibiza TDI, ‘92 VR6, ‘88 mk2 8v, ‘92 Polo G40, ‘91 mk2 8v, ‘89 mk2 8v, 205 GTI 1.9, ‘83 mk1 GTI, ‘80 Scirocco GTI, plus some others I’ve forgotten

You'll love the GTD. I bought mine having not driven one and its fantastic. Although this is going to be your commuting car I'd highly recommend (and I'm sure others will too) that a DTUK tuning box will transform the car and make it feel less slow than your Stage 2+ R currently will make it.

Welcome along though!

Yes it is a great car, but it's a lot tamer than the MK6 GTD/Scirocco 170TDI, and mine came with sh!tty Bridgestones which really hurt its potential. The DTUK box gave it back some feeling of performance, but ultimately i've said "bollocks to the MPG" and i'm getting an R!
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Well I'll be the only one who says you don't need a tuning box on a gtd. If you want speed order an r
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.
