Stub axle
« on: 29 January 2015, 23:43 »
so I had a little accident in the snow last night involving me sliding sidways into a kerb with my left rear wheel, it was a considerable force, enough that I braced myself as I knew it was happening. is it likley that there is any damage to the axle or even the chassis? the impact did knock my split rear seat out of place.

Fit the new stub axel and then check the disk runout on that axel. If the disk is straight and you are getting runout then something else may be bent also.

new stub fitted and it turned out the axle was bent, I replaced it with a wider mk3 axel and its sitting off centre, the gap between the mounting plates and the axel is different by about 10mm what can cause this? I did have a bit of difficulty getting in to fit, felt like the bushes were too wide

the axle is sitting over to the right hand side of the car, not in the middle
