The injectors out of the 16v need cleaning. I have an ultrasonic cleaner to hand but what I need to know is what will be the best solution to use?

I currently have available to use in it:-

-Redex
-Gunk (Degreaser)
-Oxide remover (rust eater) (http://mistralie.co.uk/products/ultrasonic-cleaner-for-oxide-removal)
-or fuel

(Note I'm wont be using any of the above as a 100% solution, it'll be 1:10/2:10)

I've used gunk in the ultrasonic cleaner on my cb450 carbs before and they came out like new! I'm just a bit wary about using the wrong solution on the injectors, any advice would be very helpful.

Thanks

My cb450 carbs using gunk (You can see what they used to look like as there is another set to the left of them in the background)

This the state of the injectors:-

They will be fine in the tank with a non caustic solution to remove the outside crud.
There is a chance you could dislodge some sort of build up inside which might make for a bad pattern and take some time, or re clean to make good.
I used to run most non ali bits through the citrus tanks at work and put Iron/Steel through the caustic tanks.
They were both 400ltr tanks so I could do whole wheels or blocks

Cheers mate.

I went ahead and done it with excellent results.

First I gave them a bath using Gunk, water and a little bit of fairy liquid to make them mix, probably not the best thing to do, but they were f**ked anyway. 15mins at 70 deg.C

Gunk and crud removed..

Now for the Oxide remover...

after about 5mins @ 50 deg.C

done...

I've given them a and the rubbers a good wd40ing and will fit later. Hopefully firing on all cylinders, which was the cause for me removing them in the first place. Only 3 out of the 4 were working.

Get some Ambersil AB1 and go neat, then as it evaporates you can dilute.
Much better than your Alchemy

Sonic tanks are awesome, when you lift the large cages out on the crane the tank starts to sing and your teeth start to ache in a nice way its weird to try and explain it

Haha! It worked though ;)
Can't even imagine the feeling a 400litre gives you! I'll look into the Ambersil, thanks for the info :)

Yeah it will work with water as its the bubbles that break up the dirt, so long as its not flammable you can use most things to hand. Cleaner it is the better as dirt and crud in the fluid take away some of the sonic power.

Just don't ever put Ali heads into the caustic tanks by mistake they dissolve in about half an hour :lipsrsealed:
