Why does my 16v misfire and hold back between 1700-2100 rpm once i have really thrashed it down the road. Sometimes it does when im just driving normally please help im going to set the car on fire if i cant sort this. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Also when the car is not in gear and i rev it up to 1700rpm the revs just go up and down up an down but idles fine.

could be a number of things but try changing distributor cap, rotor arm and if that doesn't work, the spark plug leads.
can't guarantee any of these will work but be methodical and you'll sort it.

Does anyone know where to get cheap ht leads for 16v. My local vw dealer wants ?120 for a new set.

or .com cant remember, im sure ive seen em in there for about ?40 bit of a saving, oh yeah some one did a thread on here saying you could also get 10% off euro parts, ill tryand find where it was a let ya know
