Drivers door when Cold
« on: 23 January 2015, 20:30 »
Anyone else's driver door feeling stiff when opening on these cold mornings ?  Mine was quite bad this morning and needed quite a bit of force to open.  It unlocks and opens fine, it is when you pull the door to get in.
Ordered 06/01/14.  5DR GTD DSG, Red. Park Assist | Rear Camera | Keyless entry | Dynaudio | Winter Pack | Pro Nav.

It's the seal sticking to the bodywork, with a little bit of icy dew as the jam between the 2 pieces of bread. Silicone spray on the seals will probably help.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
MK7 R 5 door, manual, Lapiz Blue, Prets.

Didnt explain myself very well.

The seal opens fine, it is the point where you open the door wider to get in.  Like the hinges are covered in glue - of that makes sense.  I think the grease on the middle hinge is reacting with the cold.

If the proper door grease has been used then it won't be affected by the cold.

Had that the other morning -5.5c. couldn't get the door more than 75 - 100mm open. Got in the passenger side, after 20 mile journey the door opened fine. I think the problem is in the area of the check strap.
