Hi everyone, really looking for some advice on this. Engine code 08213 or Snap On Code P2015 INLET MANIFOLD

I've got the engine management light on and my mechanic is suggesting that we replace we the whole manifold?

I'm new to a Mk6 Gti and the light came on a couple of weeks after purchase and not sure what to do, I've seen other previous posts on similar and same problems, can the manifold be striped and re-built or is it really a new job which could be £400+? Is there a repair that can be done or a modified version that could be cheaper?

Once again thanks for your advice?

Jimmy

Please see my post entitled problem. I have exactly the same issue, so I started with replacing the solenoid, and that cured it for a while, but after a week or so the fault reappeared. I have heard that vw will contribute towards and yes the part alone is £300 plus fitting. So, dependant on your warranty position, I would get it replaced. The advice I got was eventually it will fail, which will cause either a rough idle, or an inhabiting to start.

First off, Golfhappy and C3P0 Many thanks for your help. Mine is a 2010/59, I will call me local dealer in the morning (Windrush).

What I'm trying to get at is with all of these fault codes if I do one at a time I'll be wasting time and money where I'm better replacing the whole unit?

I could do the DIY Option and have a go at cleaning but feel that this will just endure the problem.

C3P0 what was the end result with your car and what action did you take in the end?

Thanks Again

The advice i received from VAGtech and then checked with Skipton Volkswagen (my trusted dealer of choice) was that the sensor within the manifold sends intermittent signals, so the position of the flap within the manifold cannot be certain. I have been driving mine for a couple of weeks with no effect apart from a warning light on. The sensor is within the manifold, so you are forced to purchase the unit. Mine is a 59 plate with 62k and searching around the web, it is a large issue in usa, so I guess it's a matter of time before we suffer the same problem. If you want piece of mind get it changed, I am waiting for the delivery of my mark 7 so, providing it lasts another 5 weeks I will be happy  good luck and keep us posted.

You lucky, lucky man. Looks like I'll have to change.

Is ther a modified one available from anywhere so are they just a VAG supply only item?

Not sure, but if you intend to keep it a while I would use a genuine VAG or a performance upgrade if the price is not too dissimilar.
