So, there I was travelling back from Yorkshire on 2nd jan on the M1 when a warning light illuminates on the dashboard

. Exhaust emissions warning light after checking the manual. So, got home, unpacked the car, and went straight off to find someone to check the car over and make sure it was nothing serious. Both VAGtech and Indie Tech in MK shut due to the festive season, so called in at Wayside VW in MK. Shocked at the fact they could not just plug in and advise, but wanted me to make an appointment some time next week, so walked out in disgust vowing I will never cross their doorstep again. Gave Ben at Skipton VW a ring (my normal dealer for servicing and purchases) who spent 20 mins on the phone looking at what it could be, and advised ok to drive, but need to get it checked ASAP. So waited until this morning and rang Vagtech in MK who have been superb in the past, and said just bring it down and we will see what fault codes have been logged. Turns out that the inlet manifold solenoid had an intermittent fault, and all is now well for less than £150

.
How can certain main dealers just turn business away?
