Criteria for a write off

So, someone reversed into me the other day unfortunately he is my friend so I am considering just having him pay for the repair, but this would leave me without a car for a while, which isn't really ideal.

So, how much damage, or % of value of the car would be needed to write off a car?

I've got a mk4 150PD, the mods are not insured individually, so minus all of the mods I guess, right?




The dents is maybe an inch deep at its worst.

well think about it to repair right it would need a new panel and its not just an hour or 2 job and with labour rates in most bodyshops it wont be cheap  you could have it pulled and filled but that's not ideal but would cost a lot less

be a quick mk2 with the pd150 in it

A good body shop can make that look decent for maybe £500 (if the crinkle by the light is damage?)
It is an old car who cares if its got filler in it, get some prices before you do anything as once it's written off you cant go back.

i would agree, wright off.

take it to a body shop and ask for a quote cash in hand no recipt, that's your best bet imo.

Ok...

I like my car too much to allow them to write it off. Too much time and money invested. Looks like the guy will pay whatever it costs!

Usually around 70% of value sometimes as low as 50% being mk4 with that damage no surprise there really. Some insurers/body shop that rear 1/4 needs replacing Not filling.
