They only change the front door speakers and tweeters but it's a great improvement

I wouldn't bother changing the rear speakers. Your sound stage will be front biased, so the rears are only for fill.

As for the lights, making sure it has got xenons if the dealer has advertised it with them. A mate bought a Scirroco that the dealer had told him had xenons. He didn't know any different until we saw his car and pointed out it had a HID kit in standard reflector headlights.

Where's the pics at?!

Just got off the phone to the dealer and I've pulled the plug on the deal...

I was told the car had Xenons and 18" Charleston alloys prior to me putting the deposit down. When the car arrived at my local dealer, it didn't have the Charleston alloys on, it had the standard 17"s on. I asked the dealer to swap them over as this is what we'd agreed.... I didn't think this was too much to ask and the sales guy I was dealing with didn't seem worried either. After many phone calls, the dealer finally confirmed this morning that they are not prepared to do that as each Charleston is £665 each without tyres and they'd be making a loss on the deal. I think they were just expecting me to say "oh stuff it, I'll have it". No chance!!

Absolutely terrible service. I was willing to let the Xenon issue go but not prepared to take the car without the upgraded alloys.

Really gutted as I should be sat in it now. Anyway I currently in conversation with two other dealers about other GTD's so will keep you posted.

Thanks for everyone's input

Really sorry to hear   No xenons or Charlestons, definitely a deal breaker.  Sadly some unscrupulous dealers around.  At least you had your eyes open and knew what should be what.

It's worth holding out for the right one, so hope you don't have too long before you find something

Dan, sorry to hear the deal didn't work out for you, but I think you did the right thing.

Interesting to see the dealer was quoting a price of £665 (ex tyres) for each Charleston alloy when they're listed on the accessories section of VW's website (link below) at £393.80 each - and the cost to the dealer would be much less than the customer retail price. I think the only difference between the VW accessory version and the factory fit version is the accessory version is anthracite machine (diamond cut) finish and the factory fit version has diamond cut faces to the spokes, with the spaces between painted black. That wouldn't account for the price difference.

As charlie has said, there are plenty more out there, so the right car will turn up. Good luck with your search.

It may be that the Charlestons in the link are old stock. They are a Mk5 Golf wheel, whereas the Mk6 had Charleston Shadows.

Yeah I think the price I was quoted was legit as I've phoned a number of dealers and thy are the same price. The wheels in the link above look like the wheels on my mk6 GT.

Hi guys,

Just a little update...

Finally picked up that 2012 GTD I was originally buying. The dealer rang me and basically said what can we do to make you buy the car so that they could do the deal before the new year.

Anyway after some further negotiations I managed to get the car with the Charlestons fitted, taxed for 12 months, full tank of diesel, extended warranty and 3 years servicing package.

I picked the car up in New Years eve and absolutist love it. Totally different drive compared to the GT I had before.

I'll upload a pic in a few minutes
