19inch wheels
« on: 26 December 2014, 21:00 »
Hi.

Got a alloy wheel fund and looking at the merc amg cl63. Would these fit my gtd or any mods needed? They r gonna go on stock suspension.  Would it look ok for 19inch as want least gap between arch and wheel - i aint lowering it like mk4 as that was slammed. Ppl say that the gap will be the same as 17s?

Could you possibly post that in English old boy?

I'm sure more people would reply if they could understand what you had written.

If you keep the same rolling circumference to keep the gearing and speedo correct then the wheel+tyre height will be exactly the same. Therefore the gap will be exactly the same.

Even tho you keep the rolling circumference similar, therefore maintaining the same wheel to arch gap and ride height, the car will appear higher with a larger arch gap on bigger wheels. It's just one of those inexplainable visual illusions. I believe that the GTD is also a smidge higher than the GTI which will not help the cause.

The other consideration is that larger, open spoked wheels will make your tiny brakes look even smaller.

Wheels can make or break the look of a car, but often they need other mods with them to pull them off well.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
