1.8t power steering fault
« on: 18 December 2014, 18:31 »
Straight to the point really PAS is shot it packed up on me the other week turning into an esso garage on the drive home it was fine (ish) looked into it today and the fluid was a bit low so i topped it up with the proper vw stuff still faulty. I realised that if its idling or im not accelerating it doesnt work if im holding the revs at about 1100 or accelerating its as light as ever!

Does this all point to the pump be knackered ? I got a price from vw £350!!!! No thankyou would a q drive one from euros be ok ive never really skimped on parts with this car but im in absolutely no position to spend £350 on a pump im pretty confident i can fix it myself if i had a decent guide ...... which i cant find ! Any help will be great cheers

id say if nothing is happening, youve either got an air lock or the pump has gone naff. just plonk one on from a breaker thatll be ok! itll be about a score rather than 350!
i think i love you.....

Hey mate - try this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141183648936?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Reasonable price and looks very clean - he is also selling the power steering press switch which might be knackered as well by the sounds of it!!
Oh yeah could you tell him if you buy from him that I advised you to buy one of his parts (ebay i.d -  tariq_basraa)

Hope this helps!!
BTW you haven't got long till the auction for the switch ends.
Also worth checking the pipes to see if there's a leak from there but I think its gonna be the press switch if not then it'll be the pump but for a score you're not really gonna be disappointed even if you end up with a spare pump!
