Need help on air filter.
« on: 18 December 2014, 16:07 »
Hello guys, I need help in finding out what these 2  sensors are and what do you guys do to your aftermarket air filter.

Firstly I bought a cone air filter. Now on the standard air box on the top half of the box is 2 electric sensors facing each other which is attached to top end of the box (after air is filted), I unplugged these by taking off the metal clips, completely removed top half of the standard air box and used a jubilee clip to attach new cone filter.

Went to fire her up and wouldn't start, so I removed the bit from the top half of the standard air box where these 2 sensors plugged into and plunged them back in and she fired up straight away so all I have done now is taped these 2 sensors out of the way(still pluged is as if my standard box was still in place)

Obviously they have a job to do but I don't know what they are for let alone what they do. Any ideas? Do you guys just do what I've done and leave it at that?

There is another sensor that's pluged in the pipe that sits just after my air has been filted. Which I'm guessing is the MAF? .

Thank for any help.

AWESOME. So I don't have to worry about anything then? I took it for a 10 mile test drive got no lights temperature stayed at the same level.
I will tidy it all up better another day.
Also I've left bottom half of standard air box to protect filter more and also it's catching some cold air too :)
Thank you viperjsy
