Not very happy!
« on: 16 December 2014, 09:36 »
Had my car serviced at VW dealers couple weeks ago because I had 2 years free servicing - this bit I'm happy about.

What I'm not happy about is...now I'm convinced the map on my car is gone! The car feels really sluggish and doesn't pull anymore. I couldn't even keep up with a 2.0 tsi Scirocco on the way to work anymore! Now this may not actually be the case and just some sort of negative placebo effect, but I'm really not happy. I went back to the dealers to ask them what they did to the car and as it turns out, they may have left the battery disconnected for a long period of time!

Is there anything I can do?

That's why I tell the dealership I take it too about the modifications I have made, that way they don't update the software that can also screw up your remap. That's why I like the bluefin, you can take it off before taking it in, and put it back on when you pick it up again.
Who did your remap?

Aye they knew the mods which were on. I've even taken one of the lads that work at the parts desk out for a drive once and they all love my car there!

It was from Carbon Chiptuning in Manchester. When Nick did the remap, I did ask him that if this problem should ever occur, they'd put the map straight back on. However, I've emailed him a few times now and he hasn't replied, dunno if it's just the busy period..

From experience you'll know right away if they've screwed up the software. Even after driving my car after the Revo from Superchips i can tell. They'll be busy, keep trying!
Audi S1 gone, awaiting 1.5tsi r-line, pan roof, led lights front and rear, active dash, 18" jurva alloys and a dealer fitted Oettinger roof spoiler in tornado red.

Yeah man, I knew as soon as I got the car back from servicing that something was different - I couldn't quite put my finger on it

might just been somebody new/apprentice running a update on your car that didnt no about the map so its totally overridden it thus loosing it.   pretty sound from the mapper saying they will put it on if it did happen! just give him a ring.

Oh aye, pretty sound for sure. I gave him an email and he said to send him a VCDS scan but unfortunately I don't have access to VCDS anymore. He said we'll sort something out after New Years for him to have a look at the car in person then reflash if necessary. Thank God I went with Carbon Chiptuning!

What age is your vehicle? If it's a late GTD and needed the ecu removing do have the remap carried out the software update would of not affected the map.
I agree it must been annoying when things get changed when a car goes to be serviced/fixed but i think as the owner/driver you have a duty of care to inform the dealership of any modifications that might interfere with the work beeing carried out.

It's a 2011 one and did indeed require ecu out to be remapped. A friend of mine who is familiar with my car also noticed the car feeling like stock again with the turbo lag and less pull.
I actually did notify them that the car has been mapped, a friend of mine works there and they all know my car very well-I told them before hand not to touch the ecu, which makes me think they've probably unplugged the battery for a lengthy period of time - this resets the ecu parameters on vag cars even though the map is still on, and requires a sort of 're-activation'. I know this to be true on seat and Audi cars also
