Jacking
« on: 10 December 2014, 12:50 »
Not sure if should of started a new thread or not but hey ho.

I will be doing the g60 conversion to my clutch in the new year and I wanted to know if it would be ok to place a block of wood under/or on top of my axle stands to get enough clearance to pull the gearbox completely out from underneath the car?

Thanks

depends how stable it is and how hard you're going to be tugging on the gearbox. I used to put a couple of railway sleeper cut-offs under the axle stand bases when i needed extra height rather than risk small bits of wood splitting or coming adrift

That's what I'm thinking of using, not so much a railway sleeper but something large and strong enough to withstand the weight
