My last car was a Fiesta ST and I inflated my tyres to the pressure for 2 people in the car. When it came to swapping tyres the front were worn in the middle all the way round. I drove in the car alone most of the time. So I guess those PSI numbers aren't always accurate enough

This conversation is making me paranoid about my GTi tyre pressure now as I'm still going off the recommended and drive on my own a lot  might have to take a peek (only had the car a year though

There is a tendency for oem's these days to suggest pressures that are over inflated by any normal definition of the term. Less tyre contact patch, less rolling resistance, less co2.

We've seen on here how on the mk7 they changed the recommended pressure over the years... That's what that is.

I looked really hard at how you could work out the right pressure for full contact patch but you need some clever gear to do it.

Shame I don't need any, some decent prices there.

Shouldn't be allowed, fudge the mpg/CO2 while reducing braking efficiency putting less rubber on the road.

My A4 has 2 tyre inflation suggestions on the B pillar: "normal" (overinflated) and "comfort" (what they should be for normal wear.

I run the wife's Polo GTI 3psi less than official guidelines all round - 41psi on the fronts for 1i" wheels us ridiculous.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I guess it depends on the degree it's reduced. Some golfs have much skinnier tyres than say a gti rolling on nineteens. Therefore the braking capability might well be the same as one on the skinny tyres.

The fact that over inflation messes up your tyres earlier than they should and makes your fillings fall out is a different thing.

Back on forum after very long time have gander at mk7 section. I have an 2018 e-golf 3 months and the tyres are awful Bridgestone turanza 16 inch. Defiantly Vw chosen for rolling resistance Economy over comfort.

Most surfaces just very course and load road roar and fine vibration all but newest surfaces. They also poor grip pulling off wet and cold. Was curious to find the quietest tyres lol if anyone experience as not want change them get same problem. I not mind loosing some range for comfort lol. Read these tyres not great reviews. If had money I’d buy some R wheels for it instead replacing tyres for these fugly aerodynamic wheels, cheers.

I have been incredibly surprised by the Michelin Super Sports on the 18s. The wet grip in the corners makes my stage 1 GTD feel like it has torque vectoring or a kinda like LSD, you feel it biting into the road. Also, they have lasted absolutely ages. I'm constantly launching it at least 2-3 times per day (because how can you have launch control and not use it daily haha ). I have done about 22,000 miles (70%motorway) and I still have about 3.5-4mm of tread. I'm honestly in shock at how good these are. The only thing that I can compare them to is Nangkang NS-2R's semi slicks (not as strong as the Nangkangs, but not far off), However, you get extremely good wet grip which you don't with the Nangkangs of course. I would highly recommend them especially for £130ish per tyre
