I am looking at options for winter tyres. I want to get Michelin PA4s 235/35R19, which are roughly £800. Alternatively I could get some 18" wheels and have a better tyre choice (with cheaper tyres) in 225/40R18 or similar.
Anyone with similar experiences? The car is in the North of Scotland with very wet roads and snow is not unusual even in November. I have Cup 2's on at the minute and they will need to come off very soon!
Thanks!
Changing to a set of 18’s would be a good idea.
All it takes is one puncture and you kiss goodbye to £200 worth of tyre.
Plus you can keep a whole spare set of wheels and tyres for dedicated use.
I find it handy having a spare set of wheels for when you need a full sized spare or four, be it a puncture or having wheels in for refurb or whatever.
As an aside, there are two sets of wheels with winter tyres fitted and one set of 18” winter tyres for sale over on VWROC right now if you’re a member.
